TUITION & OPPORTUNITIES

Intensive Tutorials
Students will be allocated to either the preparatory, beginner, intermediate, or advanced ensemble after registering for SHC. We estimate that each ensemble will have approximately 8-10 students, which will ensure that all students receive focused guidance from their allocated tutor. Compulsory repertoire for each ensemble will be sent to the email address that you supplied during registration, approximately 1 week prior to camp so that students have time to look over the music and prepare.

There will be a minimum of 3 intensive sessions held on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.
Mass Ensemble
All students that attend SHC on day 2 of camp (Nov 3rd), will be provided the opportunity of performing in the mass ensemble. Given how many students attended last year, we expect this ensemble will range anywhere from 30 to 5o players. For most students, this will be a unique and potentially once in a lifetime experience that we are excited to provide.

Parts will be allocated according to skill level and there will be a minimum of one mass ensemble rehearsal on both camp days.

Master Classes
All students will be offered the experience to undertake a Masterclass with one of our world class horn tutors. Not only will this include the opportunity to perform solo at SHC, but these Masterclasses will also provide unique guidance as your child will receive targeted feedback on their repertoire and performance but in a group setting. Almost like a private lesson with an audience!

Whether students are performing or observing, these classes are incredibly beneficial for building countless valuable skills!
Workshops
Our tutors specialize in various areas and so offer a wide range of tips and tricks that will improve your child's horn playing. SHC workshops provide a creative teaching environment for tutors to share this knowledge, covering topics such as: how to play high, how to not be stressed on stage, how to perform like a musician, and how to put the wind in wind playing.

Talent Show
After numerous hours playing the horn, students will be invited to pack up their instruments and perform any other skills they wish; anything but horn! The SHC talent show provides students to be creative and showcase their other talents in a casual, supportive environment. Students will be invited to wear pyjamas, bring as many pillows as they can carry, and enjoy the show!
Final Concert
After a jam-packed two days, students will stand onstage in their allocated ensemble and showcase all of their hard work with their peers. As a final performance, the mass ensemble will fill the hall with the sound of 30+ horns! Parents and friends are invited to attend and cheer on their budding horn player!
