What to Expect

After a successful SHC 2023, this year we will be hosting a bigger, better Sydney Horn Camp. Students ranging from primary to highschool age are able to attend, regardless of their experience level (from beginner to advanced). Students will be divided into ensemble groups based on their skill level as indicated during registration. SHC will involve a two day, overnight stay at the Baden-Powell Activity Centre (Pomona St, Pennant Hills NSW 2120), and cover a range of group rehearsals, intensive tutorials, camp activities, and a final performance for family and friends. We anticipate hosting approximately 30 horn students, which will allow all players to receive a high level of attention and guidance from our experienced horn tutors.

Since SHC is a more specialised music camp, we have ensured that all our tutors, conductors, and even music composers are of the highest calibre. Not only this, but SHC will also provide a supportive environment for students to build and explore their horn playing skills in different, potentially unexplored settings such as masterclasses, performance workshops, and small and  large horn ensembles (30+ players). Students will also be offered the opportunity to experience a private lesson with some of our world class tutors, upon request.

Arguably the most notable benefit for your child will be the opportunity to build a support network of horn playing peers. Horn playing can be a particularly lonely pursuit, so banding together with other horn players (excuse the pun) can play a big role in a child continuing to learn horn in the future!
